ah mr carlsons lab, been watching that for a while I particularly like the way he does restorations, that channel is a mine of useful information, his video on how to make an active probe is good one.

I saw that video Mr Carlsons lab with active probe, very good stuff. There is also video of tecktronics oscilloscope which contained over 100 vacuum tubes! That monster had to be dragged around on wheels.

I just use mylar and polypropelene, and try to stay away orange/brown dip. Polystyrene can stay in the components bin forever unless I'm desperate. I learned that Tantalums are good too, for decoupling/bybass. I noticed that ceramic caps are very unstable with changes in temperature. Even new capacitors especially electrolytic and tantalum need to be checked before using in circuit. Ever since I found a new electrolytic with e.s.r way outside of spec. I decided it was good practice to check them first.
I learned that mylar caps are good for oscillator circuit, because of there extremely good stability.

I also learned that knowledge isn't free. It costs me 30 U.S dollars for 30 days unlimited data.
