You could make the Tesoro Golden Sabre Light. You can discriminate other metals with it.
There is also a version with two different tones for Iron and non Iron metals , called the IGSL.

I have boards in production from a smaller version of the TGSL and i can sell you one , but they are not tested yet and still in transit.

You could also buy pcbs from silverdog.co.uk or a kit.
If you want to make your own boards then check the TGSL Thread here in the forum.

There is also a well documented PDF for the TGSL EDU.

tsgl, is an option but it is quite an advanced project, less skilled builders have had problems getting them stable, I don't know if this is the unit or its coil as both are hard to fine tune.
the idx is a good vlf project with just as many mods and tweaks it seems, I bought an idx kit but as a repair path for my whites idx the the board craps out.
if you go for the golden sabre I would edge your bets and go for the ivconic version, there is also a way to use minelab musketeer coils, I would look into that, or failing that buy a genuine Tesoro coil the correct type, make it as easy as you can on your self.
a good working coil will remove any doubts when you are trying to set it up, it really
        is
worth it in the long run, once you have a good working machine then you can try building a coil yourself, building the coil makes a hard project even harder so make it easier.

I dont think that the board is hard to fine tune. Its the coil.
You should watch the TGSL build Video from EPAE on Youtube.

A factory made coil cost about 100-140 Euro for the TGSL. You can make your own for 30-40 Euro. But its not easy for a beginner.
