I'm wondering why only an Equinox picks up gold chains. A few videos out now real world and testing that shows the EQ800 finding gold chains and nearby CTX and Excal detectors don't sense them at all. It is due to DSP code that these others don't have or something about the coil? Hoping its the coil and a new come comes out for the CTX... or a firmware change so "it goes to 11 (31?)".

Why only Equinox picks up a gold chain?

So the EQ 25Khz TX content is stronger? Do you think it was an intended design goal to see chains or just luck? I have not yet seen anyone switch the EQ to single frequency and test a chain. That may be interesting.
Could the CTX be modified to do better - like a tailored preamp in the coil for HF? Tuned TX coil for HF, or a HF inline TX boost driver? I imagine the TX is a straight pass through to the coil (fw rect to power the preamp though).
I am fine with everything about the CTX but hate seeing the EQ guys get the chains. Time to hotrod the CTX.

Without a doubt the Equinox was designed for better small gold response, as that is a major weakness of BBS/FBS. CTX is what it is, you will not be able to improve the small gold response. If you could do it, so could Minelab, and it would have been done already.
