  • choice for a 18 khz

    good evening everyone,
After having made four IDX PRO and three SURF PI, I would like to know what 18khz detector I could do?
In your opinion, what machine 18khz is feasible at home? in analogy of course ....
    thank you

TGSL with some modest changes would make a fine machine.

If you did already some IDX, the easiest way for you would be, to change the TX/RX capacitors.
I recomend LC Circuit, an app from Google Play Store to play with your inductuance and different capacitor values.
In TX per example, you should choice 100-150 nF to get around 18 kHz.
Also the pinpointer mode, like in the IDX, I would miss.

In RX it should be around 3 nF with original coil data, but I am not sure about stability and target distance etc.

sorry but you can do only that has full data. if troy shadow is 18kHz and we know the same you can NOT do it just only above cause.
any tesoro coil is not a frequency attached to. a frequency value is determined only by a cap in the TX generator (really there are two having relation to the freq).
you can set different cap value and get any frequency you want.

            Tesoro Lobo(20khz). Very good choice.

                  OK .
then an IDX 18khz ...? is it possible ??
but calculate tx 18khz no problem. but how to calculate the frequency value and the inductance of RX?

As per the book "Inside the Metal Detector".

You say you can calculate Tx to run at 18Khz "no problem"? But you can't calculate Rx mods? That's odd.

The chapter that covers Building a VLF MD and the Chapter that covers Changing the TX & RX frequencies to match a different Coil.
Read, Study and Experiment to learn what to do.
