  • KiCad problem

Can't find any resistors or caps in my components library. What's going on here?

Since replacing Kicad V4 with V5, I also found that the libraries have disappeared. There's apparently been a change in the new release in the way the libraries are handled. Unfortunately version 5 of the Getting Started guide has not yet been released.

Anyway, I've managed to attach the symbol libraries so far in Eeschema by selecting Preferences > Manage Symbol Library Tables > Browse Libraries.
You can attach more than one library at once by using shift-select. I downloaded the libraries from here -> http://kicad-pcb.org/libraries/download/

      there are three stages.
      1. beginner. use components from CAD libs
      2. middle user. begin to correct the components from CAD libs transfering them in MINE library.
      3. pro. do not use nothing from CAD libs. to use only selfmade.

There is a good introduction made by Digikey at YouTube. the Kicad Version 5 is still not stable I don't think is good for newbies to use it

KiCad is one of the best programs available, it's very powerful. Design circuits from start to finish. Order pcb etc. Problem is that it takes time for old dinosaur to learn new tricks. Ha ha.

It took me one hour just to update components library, couldn't find the location of file in pup tahr. Now I'm getting the hang of things. At this rate I'll have my first pcb ready to order in about two years.
