I saw an old post of yours on Eric Fosters PI forum where you stated that you were going to build the GoldPic 3 for gold prospecting. Did you ever complete the project? And if so, how did it work?
I just saw a GoldPic forsale on the findmall forum and was just curious about it.

    Rluka,

I did build it but bought the wrong LCD display and shorted out some circuitry! Hopefully Carl or some of the others can answer your question and the main thing about a gold PI is having the delay set to 10 to 12 uSEC after the xmit pulse (Eric can tell you about that).

If I were you I would wait for Carls SMD Hammerhead as it's going to be a much more dynamic metal detector and you can adjust the settings to perfection for gold nugget hunting.

      Randy...Thanks for responding

Thanks for the info. I was looking at his project(SMD Hammerhead ) and it looks pretty impressive.
At what point do you think it will be ready with these features?
What a great forum, by the way

Is the SMD Hammerhead project the same as the
Hammerhead PI listed in the projects?
        Thanks again..Ron L

Yes it is one in the same project by Carl. Any technical questions ask him. Looks very exciting and a good learning platform.

              Re: Randy Seden

I built the goldpic and it works. If you are looking to build something just to learn and see it work, then go ahead. If you want a high quality metal detector, then look elsewhere (buy one). Also, keep in mind that you can't do a lot of mods to it since its controlled by a PIC unless you want to write your own software.
              Good luck,
