Modification suggestions to separate a copper penny and dime
Most stock Tesoro detectors will not separate a copper penny and dime even when using a 10 turn pot for discrimination.
Higher frequencies tend to expand the low conductivity part of the scale but compress the copper/silver high conductors closer together. The 6.592kHz White's could pretty easily separate copper cents & dimes, the Tesoros tend to run 10/12kHz and may have more trouble.
Thanks Carl. I have noticed over the years some of the Whites machines I have separating the dime and penny fairly easily. The older Whites CL Pro 6000 is still one of the best analogs. Have a great day.
KT 315 I have had an XLT and a very good machine for sure designed mainly by Mark Rowan who was chief engineer for Whites for many years. Im just not a big fan of digital audio tones. The XLT was the first detector to allow the user to change practically ever option possible and that opened up a world of opportunities. And by VDI block if your talking about a VDI module to connect to a detector without VDI I have built a few of those and from time to time I like a target VDI but if it has it I like to use full tone audio. Thanks for all your contributions KT315 you have been a member for a long time and your input and contributions are priceless. Thank you

if you want sound CZ5 is good to retune for your needs i think. but what trimmer/trimmers to touch i do not in course.
we do not have service manual while thats existing.
Found it
Copper cent and dime are very close, separated by only 10 degrees phase shift.
always wondered how these figures hold up in different ground conditions
For example a button top on wet sand moves from being discriminated out from 5 on the dial in air tests to 3 on the beach. Is everything else moved exactly 2 position down on the dial
Hi KT315,
I have a CZ6a that I made into an 8 tone machine as the chip onboard can provide 8 tones but only 3 or 4 are used. The 8 tones are very nice and I enjoy analog tones. I also made the discrimination a 3 3/4 turn disc as I did not like the click discrimination that was sort of a preset selectable with the resistors mounted inside for each click. I also added a switch to silence the iron tones if I wanted and in some places I hunt the iron silence is very nice to have as there is a lot of iron targets. I added a separate iron control so that I could adjust exactly how much iron I wanted to allow and this iron control only affects the iron targets and nothing else. In a few weeks I would like to add a VDI to each of the two frequencies to see how that works and if in fact it does. With Arduino a lot of possibilities have opened up. Thanks for your replies my friend...
