  • Using a 'Power Bank' to run a PI Metal Detector?

Hi All I am a newbie and this is my first post. I am making a DIY detector and have ordered my Baracuda PCB and I am just wondering if anyone else has had experience in running a 12 volt DC power bank for their detector? The Powerbank I was looking at is capable of running high powered camera equipment for many hours with 10,000mAh they are also compact and you wouldn't have to keep constantly changing batteries... any thoughts?

12v power bank are made of 3X 4,2v lithium elements with a ballance board for charging.
No problem with this, it's very stable.
Personnaly, i prefer having a light battery that last few hours than a heavy one cause i never spend more tha two hours searching.
But it's my point of view.
That's why i use a single lithium element with a dc to dc board (1$ on ebay) to make a 12v. Some will say it's noisy but i've never had any problem with that.
    Regards

USB port gives 5V. or you plan to take voltage from liion batt directly? but it gives only 3.7/4.2V
      while you need 9.6-12V.

i think its a 12v power bank as used on security cameras etc so it should be an acceptable source for barra?

Of course, the power bank can be used, but a much smaller capacity is sufficient

I use 1800mA-Hr 3 cell LiPo (11.1 - 12.6V) for my Hammer Head PI MD.
Works great, is small and light weight and runs the MD for over 5 hours.

Of course. Power banks are fantastic. Especially those with
250mA solar-cell recharging input and 19v out for Laptops.
