often they are given a detector so its in their interest to show it in the best light.
I won't name and shame but I have seen.
depth test where only one detector is maxed out
recovery test where it a double beep with two item close together. At that distance a single coin would give a double beep
I test garden made a foot in from a metal fence ???
small stainless steel nail next to a massive coin.
a deep hole dug on the beach until the bottom fills with salt water then place a coin in the bottom. Why the detector will beep over the hole without the coin
compare depth of two detectors and not set the ground balance correctly on one of them
Some of the walking around with large square coil are funny as the beep has been added afterwards. The haven't got it synced correctly. Its as if the artefact jumped around under the ground.
Some of my all time favourites. Two machines, different size coils or scratch the ground with one coil and wave the other a few inches off the ground.
