  • PinPointer- Has anyone seen or built this?

Hiya All,,,,I came across this Pinpointer a while back and was going to have a go at making it. I just wondered if anyone had seen this design before or had ever attempted to build it? Also, I made a smaller version of it in Sprint layout 6 and was wondering if anyone could check my drawing to see if it's correct please? I've posted a copy of my layout,,the original board and schematic and I made a PDF file of the 7 pages with the information about it ,,,,it's not in English,,It may be italian but not sure for certain. Thanks,,,Marty

    Yes it is Italian.
If you post a Link to the Original Article, It should be easy to translate.

(I just typed in a Tiny Bit for a Test)

just Eddy's Malysh has real full discrimination FERROUS-NON FERROUS. i hope its the discovery for you today.
we need more advanced schematics. just great gurus in f-electronics can give us the goodies. EDDY is guru. believe me.

@Chemelec,,,,The original article came from a Nuovo Elettronica Magazine that I downloaded from the Internet but it's a 57mb PDF file.
@KT315,,,,The Malysh is on my ''To build'' list,,,and yes, Eddy is good at layouts etc,,and I agree that the Project I posted isn't very advanced and just posted it out of interest. Thanks. Marty

          .
          Yes it works decent.

You can buy Malysh as (all ready soldered, inclusive 5cm coil,
what you need more is housing) kit from this Bulgarian guy:

Does it need to be a circle coil or can it be made with a ferrite core rod like most pp are ?

The coil with ferrite rod is very sensitive to the magnetic earth field, so it is recommended to use only a coil without ferrite core. I had made it as a pinpointer-digging tool, that shape of coil is working as well.

This early version of Maljish FM w3as built with small ferrite core coil (value 1.4mH).

just read Eddy suggestions, he is here. remember he is faraway from his family. you know there is the war. real war, with tanks, artillery and constant
sniping fire. i read 4 boys had blowned on a mine.

he left his laboratory and a job. also he answered me he does not have an access to his website to update (no password).

Very nice and already on my to do list.
Here i found some more informations.

There are this data on ferrite coil construction:

220 turns on ferrite rod (dia 8mm lenght 50mm; antenna ferrite) using wire dia 0.15-0.18mm.

                          Air core coil:

There are different data on air core coil inductance around (from 1500uH to 2290uH).
Mine 7cm dia coil is 1300uH.

Example of air coil winding: 90 turns of 0.3mm wire on 150mm diameter round body.

Builder should follow coil oscillator resonance which should be 18-22kHz (by manipulating C2).
