Sniffer for finding gold nuggets

I am in gold country right now, and I am wondering if my built Sniffer XR-71 will find gold nuggets for me with a proper coil and tuning? I have on it a 1 meter square coil, but have on hand supplies to build a 12-14 inch coil (as per Sniffer inductance specs) is it worth it?

One way to find out, eaaa? ?? How fast with they sample ? 20uS ? Less ?

The sample delay is variable, but I don't know the range, whether it's zero to xxx or x to xxx etc, I'm not a MD guru, maybe someone more familiar with the machine can speak. I would think that with there being 7 controls on the unit, you would be able to get the settings to find smaller nuggets with the smaller coil
