  • Tesoro 5 pin coil connector Switchcraft alternatives?

    Hey Everyone,

So I've had my TGSL built(I've built at least 3 pcbs so far) for awhile now and I've been trying to build a good dd coil but all of mine have been pretty much awful, I'm not going to quit trying to build my own coils but I wanted to at least have one fully functioning coil so I could at least use the TGSL . Yesterday I bought this coil since I thought that it was a really good price for that size, https://www.kellycodetectors.com/cat...l-tesoro-5-pin

However I don't have any of the official Switchcraft SL175FX plugs, which I believe are the correct plugs to be able to use Tesoro coils with the 5 pin connector. Currently I've been using some other 5 pin aviation connectors that I was able to buy in bulk. I've been able to find the SL175FX plugs online but they're kinda expensive, every place I looked sells them for about $10 for one.

Is there another brand or a search term I should be using to find cheaper compatible plugs?

Thank you everyone I appreciate any help you can provide!

      Thanks Kt315,

I was looking at the different pin outs of those on the eBay auction however they don't seem to match the sl175fx shape.

Is the sl175fx the correct plug?

Just get a set of four pin matching connectors and replace both the coil and detector connection with them. As the TGSL only has four connections on the board, the 2 TX and 2 RX = 4 pins, the ground wire AKA shielding wire from the coil goes to the TX connection .Guru's correct me if im wrong. This are the ones I used for the tgsl. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/4-Pin-Waterp...2mJa:rk:1:pf:0

Hi Tibuck19, I'd like keep the coil intact and not cut the wire just in case I decide to get an actual tesoro in the future.

Maybe I would be better off making an adapter using a switchcraft inline connector and one of the current connectors that I have. That way I would only need to buy one of the switchcraft connectors which would save a bunch of money.

So the I guess the question is, which switchline connector is the correct inline connector that I should get cause I've found two on their site.

          Switchcraft SL415FX

          OR
          Switchcraft SL405FX

          Thanks again everyone!

You wouldn't need to cut the wire, take the connector apart , de-solder and save it just in case, and simply re-solder the wires on to the new one. your idea may work also just seems like a hole lot of extra steps for nothing. besides you will need connectors of the other two TGSL eventually anyways right.

I see the seller KT listed does not post to the USA. I get my jacks and plugs here. Have a look see and see if you can match on up . Or just replace them. https://www.banggood.com/search/avia...r-2.html?sbc=1
