  • Best DIY detector.

    Hello everyone.

I would like to ask you what is the best DIY detector+coil for gold rings, sunk in mud, in fresh water. Asume no mineralization and no trash. So discrimination needed.

    Were are looking for depth.

    Thanks in advance.

1m for a Goldring should be possible

best is pulse induction on arduino with lcd matrix 128 x 128 vdi with automatic GB with 128 strobes with bluetooth with USB but one small thing interrupts... still did not build (
there is always those small difficulties who will share us a code.

as far as remember the IDX 10" DD
          Barracuda 10"
          Bandido 8" concentric

were pretty much the same on a womens 18K 6.5g

around 30cm reliably and 35-40cm iffy

I have found a less than 2g miss shaped 24k ring this gave a good but faint signal at less than 15cm in very dry Stoney sandy soil with a 1265x. I would say it was close to it maximum detection depth for that ring in those conditions

Thank you. I already have a kit for Barracuda. I will make that one with a basket coil then.
Do you think it will have an advantage in terms of depth over an AT pro?
Any mods that might be useful?

You should add an auto swinging coil...

                I think question is wrong.
You never cant find best detector.
I think question should be like this.
"Which DIY detector performance is better?"
                So Im wonder.

Such a question is only asked by people who have no idea at all

standard coil winding is fine for gold rings.

you can adjust the delay for best distance on gold ring. However it will half the depth on some bronze targets.

a lot is a placebo effect.

buy a bigger coil and find some nice doesn't mean the bigger coil is better. Just that you were using that coil when you walked over the nice artefact.

the difference between a modern top end detector and an old 1990s machine is very very small in most fields.

I made an IDX and detected my garden. I have since detected it with a T2. It didn't find a single extra artefact that I had missed.

people get obsessed with depth. YouTube is full of video of depth tests. Walk a line down a field here with all the iron from horseshoes to plough shear every few feet and you will realise its not depth that's the limiting factor.

your question is wrong. yes, i offer the pcbs for Bara, why ML does not offer nothing from kits? why whites does not offer nothing?
why first texas does not offer nothing? they are huge companies with huge possibilities but are not able to offer kits.
then you go here and ask 'hey Tolian, can you offer me good kit with huge depth 3 meters on 15 x 15 cm plate and nice discrimination ferrous-gold?'.
Tolian by the way worked with broom and rake removing garbage and leaves these days. this job he only have.

do not ask me BEST. do not ask. tremor in my hands after 8 hours of work under +5 ... -1C and wind.

I need no discrimination, no mineralization. As for depth, 3-5cm more than an AT PRO would be enough. That better defines my question.

if you believe DIY detector maybe better than AT PRO this is just religious aspect. we do not discuss here religious matter.
buy a kit of/from silverdog and do something. you will get what you get.

Here is jorggomez, I recommend Magnum on steroids, deeper than AT PRO has good discrimination, uses the original probe from Golden Mask.
I've done several of these detectors and I'm happy with their work.
