Would anyone here know what the difference, if any, is between a 1994 White's Spectrum XLT main board #505-0198-A and another board #505-0198-C? The "A" board was dated 1995, the "C" board was dated 1999. They look identical in component layout from the low res photos,I can't make out individual component numbers from the photos. Are they interchangeable as in the "C" board version functioning in the circa 1994 XLT detector ?

If the keypad, display and the coil freq (6.59 Khz) are the same, I'm ok with it. I acquired a 1994 Spectrum XLT last year that had battery leakage damage (One of the battery contacts on the pc board was corroded away and the coil jack was saturated with battery crud and the battery box was totaled. I replaced the pc board to battery contact, purchased a new battery box & replaced the coil jack. The detector fired up and ran, however, when I turn up the gain past preset levels, it chatters like crazy, ever with the coil unplugged. Ive cleaned all of the connectors, cleaned the software chip and socket - no joy. I saw somebody that has a couple of 505-0198 C boards that look cleaner than the A board that's in my rig now. Also, the XLT has seen service in the past because the LCD module is dated 2008. The customer programming that was still installed in the XLT were titled as various beach programs so the salt in the air as well as any fumes from the battery leakage may have degraded the board (I looked at the solder joints through a loupe and they look kind of dull & pitted.) If you have pix to share of these boards, I'd definitely like to see them.

I found a high res image of a 505-0198-C from an Italian MD site. It's definitely a board for a XLT. https://metaldetectorworld.forumfree.it/?t=67150258
