Hi Dom,,,,I've seen some vids somewhere,,,I remember watching them and thinking how sensisitve it was (10cm on coins - 20cm+ larger objects) and that's why I collected some info on it. I'll have a look and see if I can find them,,,,How goes the new Terminator Pro PCB? Hope you're seeing pleasant progress Dom,,,Regards,,Marty.

Hi Marty yes i did the layout and built it, still playing with the setup to get it to discriminate properly the two tone works, its a bit Fiddly a detector to set up had to try a few op amps and adjust resistances to get it to run right there is a LM358 comparator circuit MC7 that needs exact value resistor or you get low tone bleed through. but has the signs of a very good detector i built a concentric coil for this one first time I have built one it works well, I made it a small coil as i want to use it for nugget hunting.
when i get some time i am going to design a low voltage gold specking pin pointer pen for finding small gold particles i think would be handy for checking rocks and small particles of gold.

Hi Dom,,,Glad to hear your Terminator project is coming along smoothly. The self designed gold pinpointer pen sounds a great idea,,,I wish I had a bit more electronics knowledge to able to design stuff like you do,,,a lot of people go gold 'sniping' here in England and it'd be great to design or build a verified pinpointer with a long narrow coil to be able to poke around in the crevices between bedrock etc,,,,Keep us posted on your project please Dom,,,I've not ordered anything yet for that Terminator Trio 2 tone PCB but it's still a definite project for me,,,,still trying to get my FM2 O2 to work but I think I'm going to build another cos' I can't suss out what's wrong,,the coil for it works fine on my 1st FM2 so I know it's not that. Good luck with your project Dom. Regards,,,Marty

no problem Marty will get to the pin pointer soon i am trying to get a few detectors working right going to do some detecting soon I want to do some field trials to see how they perform in our ground, I have just finished of tesoro gold demon moded to 45khz works great the ground balance is a bit sharp to set have to change a few things but sensitive detector , can pick up a 1gram nugget at 50mm in air and a ring at 400mm while exuding a large piece of ferrite and that is only a 200mm coil. next is the second version gold demon my design working 32khz crystal locked oscillator showing the same sensitivity but having some small VCO issues have to sort out. then will get to the terminators.

Hiya Dom,,,,,,Sounds like you got your hands full and keeping busy!,,,,The Gold Demon sounds impressive,,,are they any good on English soil?,,,Looking for some new projects if you can suggest some,,lol,,,Can't wait till it warms up over here,,I've made plans to go to North Wales to do a bit of detecting and gold prospecting,,,finding gold over here isn't that plentiful and easy as it is in Oz but there's been some good finds up in North Wales and Scotland and people have been finding small nuggets in the ground in Deans Forest so I'm off camping as soon as the weather's better,,I'd go now but my other half won't go till it warms up,,lol. Anyway, hope the ground tests you do show you pleasing results and may you find plenty of nuggets!!,,,Keep us posted Dom,,,good luck with the tests. Regards,,,Marty

Hi Marty don't know what English soil is like in Australia the ground can be very mineralized although here in Victoria its not as bad as they make out, West Australia is far worst specially inland its like black rocks iron ore One mod i made that helps the sensitivity of the gold demon is to run the battery + directly to driving transistor on the transmit coil, reminds me of a conversation with the Weatherburn mine-lab guy he said run 12v power direct to the drive transistor on a min-lab and run the rest as it was designed will increases the range a lot.

Hiya Dom,,,,,As far as I know the soil here isn't very mineralized but then I've only detected a few areas like the farm land around where I live and a few beaches on the East coast, and of course, I'm still learning etc,,,I've never learnt to drive so I can only go to 'decent' areas when my mate's off work. I'm half way through building a small 3ft Clean up sluice and a 'Blue bowl' so I've got everything in order when we go to North Wales and Scotland. It'll be great to do something different come Spring cos' I hate Winter and though I've been here since 1977 I've never gotten use to the cold. I've just downloaded a good set of tuitional videos on learning the Oscilloscope,,I've got 3 sets of DD coils to learn how to null and 2 Concentrics so hopefully these videos will get me a little closer to learning how to do this. It's great to hear of your experiments/mods etc,,keep us posted on your progress. Regards,,,Marty
