  • TGSL Kit?

    So it's decided,

from Silverdog, a MiniPulsPlus kit and a PCB for a TGSL.......... is there a kit available for this too anywhere?

Oh and a link to the latest info on the TGSL please

    thanks

    https://diydetector.co.uk/store/index.php

There is a board/components kit for the MMP and a very very good build guide for it, i believe the TGSL is board only, This is not much info in terms of a build guide for the TGSL board that silverdog sells, However if you use the advanced search, you will find enough info to put your board together.

Designer of minipulse plus still have us using stupid Geiger counter audio click click tick tick.... Stupid sound. I said over and over this is terrible for sweeping at moderate speed over beach( like how you would normally be with vlf detector) I you are going to stand around in one area and slowly pan around checking for radiation levels, then MPP is for you, otherwise you can miss the deeper targets while sweeping along at steady rate. RevE is for Beach, no? Yet surf pi is more effective even though simpler circuit, but audio is far more effective.
There is no commercially available beach pulse detector on market today with Geiger counter sound for audio, oops, there is the MPP revE, available as kit.
Take it as constructive criticism, improve the audio vco.
After many hours at Beach with click click bumblebee sound in brain can drive you nuts, as you can tell from my ranting.

In order to get things in perspective, you have to remember that Eric designed the original Minipulse detector. The Minipulse Plus is an improved version of this design, and hence it inherits certain aspscts of the original, such as the tick-tick type of audio. Many other detectors also use this type of audio, such as Hammerhead for example. The Surf-PI gates the TX oscillator for use as an audio tone, which results in a beep-beep type of output. However, this imposes some major restrictions of the the TX pulse rate, as any adjustment will also affect the audio. In general, the tick-tick audio provides greater detection depth.

I don't drink and like Db says, the MMP TICK TICK TICK, also drives me nuts a half-hour of using it! i don't even want to use it anymore because of that! I don't mean to take sides, i understand the mmp Rev's are improvements on original work you guys are putting great effort onto it, And i know you guys keep contributing in making it better, I wish i had the electronic know how, that some of you guys have, so i could be contributing as-well, But at the same time i can also understand Db point of view on improving the Audio also, Nonetheless KT, you have to stop being an A@@ ever time someone post something ! Whats a matter with you anyways? is the basement bedroom feeling stuffy or something!

Also, the MPP is an open-source project that is able to be modified and improved by others. We've already seen some modifications by others, and currently there are efforts to add ground balance. If anyone wants to work on the audio, then go ahead.

All TGSL Parts but one or two can be had more then reasonable from https://www.taydaelectronics.com/cat.../?q=308+op+amp .

I'm sure it cost me under $20.00 for enough to build two .

Thanks, I am in the UK, there is no problem sourcing the parts, just 'agro'. When buying packs of components, (5's or 10's off) a lot are never used. I have found some links for the build, but just wanted to make sure I had the latest info.
Wondering why DIYDetector does not do a kit as well as a PCB for the TGSL? as they do for a MPP.

P.S. does anyone do a PCB for the two-tone add-on board?

                  TTFN

The TGSL is a straight forward build and the design layout of the board seem to be good, I' m no expert and i was able to get mine work without any big issues. ( i had a coil made from Don, that helped a lot) If Silverdog doesn't have a component kit, let me know, i have a spare board and i was planning on getting the components for mine, Like you said, ordering for one or order for two, is not a big deal because a lot of them comes in packs anyways. Unless Silverdog wants to put a few kits together.

two-tone board. King Cobra Gold Mountain Tech is a free open-source project. you can take gerbers, send to chinese and get boards as much as you want.
just remember before february 14 they have new year and probably refuse now time.

hi silverdog tends to change up his kits now and then, he used to sell a full kit for the tsgl plus a different coil setup board and two tone mod, but as new projects come along he replaces the oldest/least popular with a new one.
ask the forum, we all buy kits we have no time to build, i have no doubt someone here has a full kit that they never built, you might get lucky, i was in a similar situation with the idx by the time i was ready silverdog was only selling boards not kits, but a user here offered me an unused kit and i bought that.
you could also try asking silverdog, he may put you a kit together, he does it as a side line to his "proper" job which is why he only does full kits for certain md's, but he is not an ogre, ask him he may hook you up if he has the means.
                              aly.
