  • EMF Detectors and detector TX

Are any of the EMF detectors (or phone app) of any use for judging detector TX/coil design experiments, higher source voltage for example on Pi?s... They all seem of questionable character but some are cheap enough I am tempted to try them.

    No one’s used one?
They are popular to locate EMI sources around the home (and paranormal uses).
    Search EMC tri-field...

Never tried one. The TF2 looks pretty good in terms of BW & accuracy. I'd guess it would work. My personal preference is a home-brew magnetic field probe.

I wonder if the playback head from an old cassette deck could be used as the basis for a probe.

Just about any type of coil would work to some degree. Play Back or Record Heads would limit the freq Response down to under 100Khz I would think. I can't remember what the Bias Frequency was on the ol cassette tape recorder Recording Bias Freq. Here ya go. https://www.google.com/search?client...ding+bias+freq

The low frequency response would be ideal for probing tx metal detector. Just put it almost kissing the coil of tx.
