Vallon vmh3cs firmware programming

Hi everyone, wasn't sure where to put this, so I started my own new thread.
Just in need of some guidance. I have made up a data cable and connected it the detector to the computer via a serial to USB adaptor cable. I then run the mdboot software that is supplied from vallon. Once that opens I select com3 for my serial cable and hit the info button. It connects with the vmh fine and brings up the current firmware which is 2.61. I emailed this to a Daniel at vallon who was very cooperative and he emailed me back the 3 firmwares that I need to upgrade to one after the other to reach to most current firmware of 4.11.
So this is where my problem starts, after connecting up vmh to computer again, select the correct firmware to begin upgrade process, check connection with info button, all good, the mdboot says software update YES in green like it should, then when I press the boot button to transfer the firmware over it comes up with a "input error from com3(0/1)".
Why is it coming up with that error at that stage when all the connection test check out OK up till then. Is there any settings you need to change in the computers com port settings to make it work properly or is there something else wrong. Hope you can help me out as I know you have successfully updated the firmware.

Not sure what's going on there to be honest, I made a serial cable and it worked fine, I also purchased a cheap USB adaptor off eBay and that worked fine with my serial lead.

I met Daniel when I went to the Vallon Factory, he was a very helpful nice chap, email him with the problem and see what he has to say!

I didn't want to start a new thread just to ask this but does anyone know where I can download the firmware from, the link to the US Vallon site doesent seem to work and I cant find the firmware anywhere. I have made the cable ready!

Sorry for the late reply, yes I do have all the necessary files to do the update. Pm me your email and I will email them to you. It's all up only about 2.5mb.

HI, Do you still have the Vallon update files? - I'm a bit late to the discussion but have had my machine for a few years now and I'm looking to do the firmware upgrade,

Hi all
First Post and so surprised I have not landed here before.
I've just bought one of these a few days ago, I'd seen it for sale but want aware of the vallon but after a quick search I ended up on that epic 132 page thread.
took maybe 4 days todays every page and get up to speed.
you guys have really gone the whole hog reboxing and new coils and all the data collected via oscilloscopes.

As an update to this thread I've just received the following email from Vallon after contacting them about updating my firmware.

So you guys on this forum are my only hope of updating the green machine.

It reads as follows,

"Hi Mark,


There is no possibility to update the firmware of your VMH3CS on a remote basis.

Sending in the unit and have it updated here is quite costly and for a private person entirely impossible with post-BREXIT regulations in place.

Hence, you better arrange yourself with the “Confidence click”
