Hi everyone,
Was out detecting with a bigfoot coil.
The coil at some point decided to make a lot of noises when sweeping
and did not detect metal anymore which I found out along the way after realising it wasn't the soil gone funny or interference.
At home I tested with another coil - the XLT is fine.
Measured Rx @ 124 Ohms and Tx was an open circuit.
Cut the cable 4 inches above the bigfoot and started measuring.
The coil connector and long part of the cable are fine.
When measuring the Tx part it is open circuit, when pushing the cable in one direction, I get a solid reading of 0.2 Ohms.
I am not sure if this is indicative of a short circuit, as data on the net suggests somewhere around 1.6 Ohms for Tx.
I would like to test the coil and see if the 0.2 Ohms would work, but am afraid of maybe damaging part of my XLT.
NOTE: This bigfoot appears to be different than other descriptions I have found, in that the whole cable itself has NO shielding.
Only 4 Pins of the plug are connected. There are only two coax wires inside.
Of course I dread having to take the bigfoot apart and most likely messing things up.
Any hints, workarounds etc ... most welcome.
