I've been following this forum since 2006.
What i saw here so far...
- huge number of conversant people
- huge number of highly educated people
- huge number of good willing enthusiasts
- huge number of skilled professionals
in shorter; lot of brains on a pile!
So...
At least can we gather and join all our forces on one thing; to project and design really functional and effective mosquito repellent device?
Is it so hard?
I've been trying ALL what's already available on market, in books, in collections, on the net. Literally All what's published so far.
NONE did the job! Literally NONE!
Lot of nice theories, nice explanations, nice circuits and ideas. Efficiency... NONE!
So i place a honest appeal here; let us gather and join forces and try do project EFFECTIVE method, circuit, device, apparatus... whatever, against those pesky pests!
If we here can't do that; nobody can! Considering all what's already have been done here during the years.
What's your opinion?

To be honest, I haven't seen anything come out of this forum that hasn't already been done. I haven't seen any new technology presented here, but rather just people building detectors as " projects " from old technology.

You might have better luck with a " mosquito killer " and then you can change the purpose of this forum because it has failed to deliver any new technology that would be useful to the detecting community.

Back in '90-s i had only few obscure md schematics and none of the explanatory documents, articles... and so forth.
I had to do reverse engineering on each md that came to my hands; to have slightest insight in that technology and later to be able to service other lookalike units.
Most of the time it was wandering in the mist.
Also i had lot of delusions upon some of the md technologies. LRL for example.
This forum has its very important role in my further education and learning.
Ain't nobody that will reveal you newest technology in any other area of science too, so i never expected from the forum something like that.
This forum put some things on their places and established some order in all what diyers and hobbyists did so far.
Also this forum was the place for hobbyists to directly meet with the professionals. Kinda pretty rare and unique occasion.
I would dare to say that this forum is probably the most important thing that happened in the md world so far.
Most important and most significant, for all the sides and parties.

You missed great time on the forum, before 2015.
It is true; today forum is not on its best.
But back in 2006. when i joined; it was best place on net to be, if you are interested in md technology.

Other forums were a lot better to around 2015 and before. My comments were in regards to what I've seen on this forum. It's true that there has been a lot of technology discussed on this forum but it is not new technology such as would be needed to design a mosquito killer, which is the topic of this thread.

While people may enjoy building or repairing a detector their time would be better spent using a detector if metal detecting was their interest. If learning and sharing old technology is what someone wants to do, that is fine, but it is not the most important and significant thing in the metal detecting world, as you claim.

If we'll talk about some aspect of md technology; firstly i would expect concrete primer, schematic (or part of it), documentations etc.

"Latest" not necessary means "best". On contrary; sadly the "latest" more and more means "worse than it was".
So this forum is quite on the right track, dealing with older designs in details.

I was just responding on topic of your original post. Even you admit that nobody is going to present any new metal detecting technology here so what makes you think any new mosquito fighting technology will be presented ?
I think I have made material arguments . Unless you take a different approach and bring new technology here you'll just be building and repairing bug zappers that are already on the market .

I don't think that we have here bad will to share among members as we all are not able to move step forward any more, as it was the case in the past.
Eventually any thing will reach it highest peak and start to stagnate in time.

So many times before i listened lot of details about his life and work.
But today i listened a story that is told from quite different perspective and different way of thinking and understanding the life.
Pity it exist only on Serbian language on Youtube. Not with translations and subtitles.
And instant Youtube translation is totally nonsense, so is pointless to try to understand the points with use of instant translator.
In short; even than in Nikola Tesla time: it was obvious that mainstream science is not perfect human answer on what's going on in nature.
Today with this covid situation it becomes even more clear than ever: mainstream science is not having answers.
Mainstream science often wanders in the mist too.
This is very dangerous to say in public. It will discredit the one who is telling this.
But since i spent all my credits already; i have nothing to lose, so i am safe.
Precisely, in the story; there was detailed elaboration about Nikola Tesla's "scalar waves", "vacuum" ... etc.
Even now i am not able to reproduce it here because it is too complex.
Nikola Tesla faced with huge wall of rejection and negation by the mainstream science at the time, when tried to introduce new kind of thinking.
Year by year, decade by the decade; mainstream science became "one sided", "exclusive" and pretty crude towards "new way of..." whatever it may be.
In most of the cases it is of course very shallow pseudoscience and mainstream science always easy win over it.
But there are not so rare examples and cases when mainstream science simply can't offer any answer.
It simply reached it highest peak at some areas and is not able to move more forward. Shortly it slammed the wall of unknown.
And here i mean serious science. Not just any small funny and irrelevant "side science" as md technology is.
So what we expected?
Medicine fails so obviously. Economy fails so obviously. "Modern" life fails and dies hard in front of our eyes... so obviously.
And than there is no wonder why md toys can't progress no more than this. Mosquito zapping gadgets too.
Obviously there is something very wrong in roots of the modern science thinking. Something very limiting and so crude, preventing any possible new way of thinking.
It is the mainstream establishment in science generally. As any other things in human life; it is also facing it's near end.
Covid situation is perfect example of this. Either the humankind will adapt and accept new reality... either will vanish in time.

Ivconic, I have been told that rubbing Peanut Oil on your hands and arms and face, and they will avoid you. I do not have mosquitoes where I live. No water outside for them to put their young into. It is the smell of the oil, not the actual oil itself. So if you can replicate the smell of the oil, and broadcast it they will leave the area. You can put it on your clothes and they will avoid you. I used to go fishing at lakes and sometimes put the oil on my skin and never got bitten. Does it work? Well, I do not know but I never got bitten.

I will check it next summer, when those pests appears again here.
But this only justifies and logically fits to what i tried to elaborate earlier.
Mainstream science is having no answer... yet mother nature is having it.
In form of many natural vapors and fumes as peanut oil smell is too.
Will check it for sure!

I didn't have any preference in what I wanted to hear from you, but you make an interesting point.
So, if there has been no new technology since the 90's it seems that people like Dankowski, Minelab and others are not selling new technology at all. Just using people and the internet to line their pockets while claiming there is new technology that would make someone a better detectorist.
I may be in agreement with you.
