  • Slow Forum

I am well-aware that the forums have been crawling for the past few days. I am working with the host provider to track down the problems. It may take a few more days so please be patient. The forums may occasionally go down while I make changes.

    Thanks,
    Carl

I apologize for the down time. Host Gator has been no help, so I reinstalled the forum software which resulted in the inability to post anything. Now, it's suddenly started working and I don't know why. Expect the forum to be slow and occasionally down as I continue to figure this out.

Things seem to be working fine now, at least from my end.
I take that back, it snags every so often.
I have to tell you that earlier this week, there was a malicious attack on my computer. I received a message asking me to update to latest version of firefox browser, everything looked legit, all I had to do was click yes. But I was very suspicious. Something just didn't seem right. Especially when the entire box began to shake as a reminder to update, this was very unusual, and is a tell tale sign of an attempted hack.
I did not accept update, instead I immediately such down my computer and rebooted. At that time, I was logged onto the forum in another tab. I run puppy linux directly from RAM on my laptop, and never had any issue before.
Carl, the sight has been hacked(or an attempt has been made), no doubt about it.

I want to be clear on what I'm saying. A few days ago, my firefox browser was open in multiple tabs, one of which was the geotech forum, in which I was logged in at the time.
While on another site, in another open tab, I received an update request, to update firefox browser to newest version. This was a trick to get me to accept, after which the maliciuos attack would have been successful. I instead rebooted my computer. Since I run everything in RAM, that would have been the end of it, except, these things can come in on one tab and go out(upload to) another site on another tab, even before you can shut down.
