Re: Accouncing a new metal detector genre

I'm wondering if the publishers allow that, especially since there is virtually zero market overlap between EPE, SC, and in the US, Nuts & Volts.[/i]

    >- Carl

We get on great with the guys at Nuts & Volts and Silicon Chip, but it's generally frowned upon to submit the same design to several magazines, it causes problems if several mags accept and publish, due to copyright ownership aspects.

what are you talking about ???

      Dear Mr Thomas Scarborough,

Can you direct me to "my" Italian web page?

I am also very curious about my Italian patent application.

You have accused me in public for stealing your idea and publicising it on my web page. I have just learnt from you that I had applied for an Italian patent with your design. Very funny. I know a couple of Italian words only.

You took offence and attacked me after I asked about details of your (quote) 'new metal detector genre' you have (quote)'announced'.

      Childish.

Also, I could not question originality of your design having known almost nothing on it. Basing on a couple of your sentences in your 'announcement' it reassembled me the Weber design. Period.

After you disclosed the full diagram, I can say I like your design for its simplicity. Nothing more.

Seems you did not expected technical discussion here but the audience applause.

I assume your Italian is better than mine so I hope you will read through the Italian website (I am not aware of) again and apology to me in public for your ridiculous accusation.

      Piotr
      ('alias' proscan)

      PS
English is not my native language so please do not point out my mistakes, as you did to Gary.

Re: Where can we read more about this new concept as well as see diagrams?

Dear Sir Would you send me the schematic and PCB layout also.

Schematic sent to your e-mail. Feedback welcome.

              Questions about the design

              Hello,
First of all, thank you for sharing your design.
I have built the circuit, but I couldnt get good performance. When I pass a metal over the coils, nothing changes at the output. But strangely, when I put a metal object close to the tuning capacitor(VC1), the output changes.
I didnt use shieldingds for the coils? Can this be the problem? And does it discriminate ferrous and non-ferrous metals?

I'll be glad if you answer.

              Sincerely
              Cagdas ALTIN

I don't recall that any of the schematics were posted on these forums, so you may have to go to the magazine web sites to get them.

                    It's probably this one -> https://www.cxi1.co.uk/Circuits/Testgear/bbmd.htm

There are a few others here as well -> https://www.cxi1.co.uk/Circuits/cctindex.html
Just search the page for the word "metal".

i know this is an old thread, but to answer the question above basically yes thats the problem.
built a couple of these and they need the faraday shielding on the coils to work as intended.
