DBanner , just turn the disc knob up to accept copper and silver only. No need for leds your ears are better. The coin hunters call this cherry picking. If you hunt an area and find lots of nickles or mid range targets and no silver, you know someone came through using full disc. Also Rodrigo posted a 3 led vdi project on the forum.

No,no, not at all. you don't want to render the detector silent to targets below the discrimination level. You may get a clean sweet signal you may wish to dig out of curiosity, or a signal that, through experience and intuition, forces you to dig(it could be gold!). In other words, you want the option to dig any target if you wish, but still knowing what is high target vs what is not. This requires a notch filter, which requires a third channel, or alternatively, a good VDI.
The three LED VDI by Rodrigo is an excellent implementation.

I apologize to Roderico for misspelling his name. Posted from memory.

It would be easy with the LED version to trigger audio high and low tones.

            Wait a minute, I think roderico's VDI-LED was based on a 12Fxxx micro, I think 12F675 and it used 4 LED's.
