This video says it all. It's hilarious.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgrvUV80xLk
There is a schematic in there.

It would seem the discrimination feature is a big hoax. It can knock out iron, but that's it. Only ferrous/non ferrous discrimination.
All the other on screen features that allow user to eliminate targets going up the scale seems to be a hoax!!!
Yet the PCB is full of chips as if to suggest that it is a good circuit???? Maybe it is good to play around with to see if it can be made to work correctly.
The coil appears to be unshielded!!! Lord almighty.

I notice a distinct lack of decent quality stable capacitors, like mylar/polyester film types, it's all ceramic. Maybe that's why it's junk, it's a copy of another circuit, but they haven't copied the ( probably matched / selected ) capacitor type. So its performance doesn't match whatever its copied off.

There are film capacitors and ceramic c0g type which look exactly the same way as the regular smd cheap capacitors but offer same performance as film through hole type. No way you can tell by looking at photos but based on the price i agree on the low quality ones. Theres is absolutely no way this device be decently usable on the field. If i have to ship this the cost of the shipping alone will be the cost of device. I guess chinese have figured out a way to mass produce these at maybe 25-30$ a piece and produce milions of units. Expect to see a flood of posts on how to impove and fix these toys. Anyway on the positve side you can play with electronics and if you see the magic smoke you dont loose too much.

i suggest every buyer BEFORE to do a choice what to buy AT FIRST to ask the forum.
but never on the contrary. chinese goodies are good for its price. at least you did not buy GARRETT ACE-350 you must.
if nobody buy Garrett's detectors that is sure meaning Garrett will run out after Tesoro same way the bankrupt and chinese just will win.

While many could care less, I will mourn the loss of a great American company who made great detectors. It?s depressing to me that so many I know could have benefited from a Tesoro who couldn?t put down their hi-tech detector for a moment to give them a chance. I feel sorry for the people who lost their jobs along with the people who have loved and followed Tesoro who like me, are sad to see them go. Like others, I wish something could be done, it could have gone a different way but in the end we will just have to move on.

A lot of metal detectors have come and gone in my life but Tesoro detectors will always be in my collection and I will still use them for many years to come.

I?ve unfortunately have been part of a company shutdown before. Mass lay-off is the first step. They will keep a skeleton crew (basically 1 shift) on for 6-12 months to finish the existing contracts with suppliers and fix up the building to sell. Then it?s lock the doors if they can?t sell the brand or building to a competitor. There are people out there that buy out existing contracts and rent the building from the owner only to make a quick dollar before closing. So, even if it gets a new owner it doesn?t mean it is saved. The way I see it. If the employer wasn?t closing it?s doors then they would have no problem telling their employees. In cases like this no news is almost always bad news.

            Edited.

All the videos on youtube of this detector indicate to me that it is rubbish detector.

I said before that it is not a toy. I TAKE THAT BACK! I was mixing this one up with the ACE250 chinese clone, the MD6250.

The response while swinging a target over the coil is very slow and sometimes it only respond in one direction. What a rippoff!

FIRST THING YOU CAN TRY TO ADJUST THE TRIMMER POT IN THE COIL.

            Thanks for your suggestions.
It's a gift for a child, so it's not too bad. But if I can improve it, it would be incredible for him.
This is the kind of help I require.
Is it just turning preset or connecting a frequency meter or oscilloscope?
What is the coil shield? Can it be corrected?

I don't know much about the topic detectors. I try to learn.
            Greetings from Argentina.

One thing I have noticed from watching the test videos of the MD3010, is that is has an extremely SLOW response to a target. The target is way past the coil before it beeps, there appears to be a serious latency problem. If the two 14 pin DIP chips could be identified, then we could make some assumptions of the circuit topology. Anyone know the link to the schematic?

The long delay and slow response might be caused by the micro, and poorly designed software, or by a ridiculously unbalanced, or bad coil. If you ask me, the coil looks very suspicious. The analogue part of the circuit and the hardware looks to be pretty decent, lots of opamps. So you would infer multiple channels, which would coincide with the notch features. The complexity of the analog circuitry does jive with the purported features, SO WHERE IS THE FATAL FLAW? MICRO? SOFTWARE? COIL?

The analog part of the circuit might be a copy of some other well known brand.

It is also strange nobody has investigated further. Doing some technical analysis of what's happening with this detector. Surely somebody out there has put a scope to this circuit. Suppose all it needs is a proper coil? How would you know?

Marcelo: It's not worth the effort. Just accept that you have bought a poor toy.
If you want a decent metal detector, buy a decent metal detector. There are many that are light and simple to use, suitable for a young person. Don't worry too much about the cost, they can pay for themselves eventually, with modern coins, occasional bits of jewellery, and older more interesting relics. Can you buy previously owned detectors in your country ( where is your country ?), for example from eBay ? Look for machines made by Tesoro/Laser , Bounty Hunter, Garrett, to name a few.

                    Thanks friends.
For Russian videos and forums, they are clear. It seems to be a toy with potential.

Where to find how to make a new coil?

After some cursory checks, I've come to the coclusion that these MD-****, and GC-**** detectors are a waste of time with the exception of GC-1023 and the MD-6520(ace 250 clone). These sell for under 200USD. All the others are rubbish.

DB find me out that chinese does not. https://www.ecvv.com/product_directo...-Detector.html
every run-out internet skyborder now can ask you How improve the chinese detector right and How to make good coil, tuning right, balancing best,
phase shifted best ideal. do not ask a free coffee from skynetborder because you are just a duck on nest doing quack quack.

Yep, the T2 and FS2 are also exact copies. Change the coil and bingo is the game.

now pics archived. board and coil. thats all guys. i do not feel a hope that topickiller gives me pics
and part list. trivial cause - a beginner is not able to open the cover of enclosure and to do something.

Interesting that the coil has the TX on the inner winding, and the RX / Bucking coils on the large outer winding.
I guess the little loop on the TX with a solder joint is where the number of turns has been fine-tuned by joining a single turn extra in series.
