  • Bounty Hunter Fast Tracker Info and Mod

hi everyone, i have a Bounty Hunter Fast Tracker (is the same of BH IV) i want to know why there are two 9Volt battery...
i look at a PCB but i don?t understand the battery wire connections...
    1) i want to know, if is possible to make a parallel or series connection for only one battery. (i want to change the case, the case original is to big!)
    2) the IC 4016 on board on pin n. 14 work with from 3 to 15VCC, is possible to change the voltage of this metal detector?
    3) is possible to change the pot VR1 on pcb, with one external? (is a pot of ground balance...)

    thanks in advance

There are two 9V batteries because that is how the engineers designed it.
If you want to 'miniaturise' the battery, each 9V battery could be replaced with two lithium cells in series, for example flat foil-pouch types.

I can't understand from the pcb if the 2 batteries are already connected in series or in parallel.
I think they are already in parallel mode, because otherwise it would work in series at 18volt ...

It is likely to be a series connected configuration, but with some parts of the circuit powered from just one battery. For example the audio amplifier could be connected to one battery.

thanks i think that...but the poor performance make me think it's a 9Volt in parallel

          2 x 9Volt 800mAh
          series 18 volt 800mAh
          parallel 9 volt 1600mAh (probabily )

in series, as Skip said right. you can easely check that if disconnect one batt - the BH will not turn up.

It might be like the bounty hunter junior power supply. Batteries are connected in series, however the audio transistor driver runs off just 1/2 the supply, ie 9V. Sure way to know is to disconnect either of the batteries one at a time.
You can replace with a single battery, just identify which terminals are in series by doing a continuity test. Then you could run the audio off of a regulator. Simple mod, really. Look at the bounty junior schematic on the left bottom of the page, if the tracker 4 is the same (you'll have to inspect your circuitry) then its a breeze to use a single battery, as only the meter and audio run off of 9V. You could put a 9V regulator instead, and do a little re-wiring.

                    That's right.

                        thanks to all!
DC DC STEP UP DUAL is a good solution?
                        IN 3-6Volt DC
                        OUT + - 12 Volt

this is a DC step up Dual.
is correct -12 volt? (in my case, -9volt)
                          is not a negative current...?
i think, usb power bank IN and 2 wires output ?> BH mother board
                          correct?

yes, i retuned the dual on +-9v. GUYS IF I GIVE LINKS YOU MUST VISIT THEM AND READ THEM. THATS a MAIN prerequisite for your growth.
