    They have uncoated or oxydized leads, thin laser marking, uncommon font... Seems like 3 of them was escaped from top secret China's factory.

    All components i buy from trusted store located in our country, but novedays all components with price less than one (or half) dollar looks similar.

    I just want to use them for prototyping only, for real units i probably will play with 12f509 in nearby future.
    I think for two compleated (SIGNAL+EFE) channel such simple PIC will be finest.

    They could have been cleaned up chemically, if they had oxidised legs from storage. Or possibly they were lead-coated, and they have been cleaned to make them 'lead-free' .

    And it's 14538 , you missed the 5 .

      Yes, i had in mind CD14538, but was to late to make corrections... so next time i'll be smarter)
      Interesting assumptions. On the back side all contacts are shiny as in normal ic, no oxidation. Maybe surface coating troubles on factory, anyway i check that mystery soon by comparing with normal ic.
