Works well. Buy another one. Good job from New Hobby.

Did you mount the coil on the end of a stick ?, I tried using my pinpointer for "clandestine" detecting but its too hard on my old knees.

Yes. I am not at home to post photo right now.,

It is about 60cm stick, battery in handle, board near to battery, this way:

Excellent, thanks WM6, I might try this on my next ship cruise

I eventually made a casing for mine and tried it out, it worked a dream separating rusty nails and iron from brass and copper, done the job as i hoped and was a little generous going a little bit deeper.
I like the idea of having the stick design but i would like to keep the board and battery at the top, so there are a couple of questions i would like to ask.
Would extending the coil wires say 1metre or less from the board affect the performance of the detector and would the wire length drain the battery, do i keep the wire diameter to same size, thought i would use some small 2 core cable.
Could i put a bigger coil on say 100mm, would this go deeper or would the design size not be suitable for this size coil. Would there be a battery drain as well.
If i made my own coil, could i make the 60 mm coil in a oval rectangle shape which would end up line 80mm x 20, would this affect the coil performance or does the coil have to be concentric and even in shape. Any info on coil making, how many windings is this 60mm coil and can i wind more for better performance.

Just been looking at my old posts, just wondering if anyone had any success making a stick detector with the New Hobby or Teemos discriminator and how they got on using it so far. Using it as a hand held device ticked all my boxes finding loads of items but i am thinking about going the stick way, incorporated into light weight less bulky easy to carry detector like a walking stick with a folding coil head.
