Well, what do we think? I have a feeling Minelab might have something to say on it given how familiar it all sounds, but I have to say it surprised the heck out of me coming from Garrett. Never seen any indication they could do multi or single selectable for that matter. I see many people are a bit underwhelmed that it is not waterproof as well, and I get that, but it seems to miss the point. Garrett has a multifrequency platform to build on, or so it seems. Here I thought they were drowning save for their superior marketing

It becomes obvious that using peak technology is leading to very similar results.
Now there is number of detectors on market looking different but performing similar or exactly the same.
Watching numerous Youtube video demonstrations i can hear the very same sounds, see very same performances etc.
Seems like digital technology narrows the path to final results.
I was sure at the time that new era started with XP and their products, especially with XP Deus.
Ever since than i see only Deus copies in various forms and shapes.
XP Deus is a milestone for every each next detector that appeared on market since than.
I am sure that huge majority of people will not agree with this and i understand the reasons why is that so.
Even now watching Garrets video; i hear the same sounds and i see the same performances and behavior.
One or two functions more or less, different name and explanation of functions, different hardware inside... those all just cosmetic differences, final results is pretty much the same.
If we could have source code from all those machines; we would see the very same approach and same algorithms.
In the past analog electronics allowed wider freedom and essentially different approach to solving problems.
Today with peak digital technology it seems things are getting pretty narrowed.
...
Nokta, Makro, some FT models, some White's models, some Minelab models... same "blurrping" on iron, same pleasant tone combinations on colored metals, same VDI behavior, same GB behavior.
You see different enclosures, different coils, different designs... different cosmetics overall... but you don't see different behavior and performances.
I think that technology reached it maximum peaks already.
Minelab maybe did only one small step forward but that's only in a sense of refining the details to end limits.
In that sense i understand their hot prices. They simply using latest available technology in their designs because they can afford.
But if we talk about essence of detecting... sorry to say: nothing important has changed since the XP Deus.
As for Garrett; i am glad to see that they made one step forward in the design.
Most certainly they will have the market for it.
There always be dedicated users to follow a brand.

PN: 1142320 $499.95 (U.S.) Basic Package
PN: 1142325 $579.95 (U.S.) Z-Lynk Wireless Headphone Package
It can be pre-ordered at https://regton.com (UK), but they're not showing any prices.
Most likely it will just be swapping the $ sign for GBP.
