Bandido II and Shadow X2 , same???

Are these two units pretty much the same
internally??

The X2 is closer to a Silver Sabre, which is a Bandido on a diet.

What about the alleged extreme depth of the Shadow? Does it have its coil amp gain boosted?

The Shadow X-2 isn't the deep one. As Carl said the X-2 is more akin to a Silver Saber and has essentially the same performance as the Silver Saber. The Shadow X-5 is the one that goes deep. It has the transmit voltage cranked up and I believe a high gain low noise preamp on the receive side.
