  • idx Pro Lcd Question

i have been looking at a schematic for the IDXPRO LCD and i am wondering about the Foil Zero i don't know what this means been trying to piece together all parts of the IDXPRO is it an adjustment to RT2 and if so where do you connect multimeter or oscilloscope to adjust does this mean zero volts or something else please elaborate as i would like to be able to understand before i would embark on such a project. Answers appreciated: Graham

This is the foil setting to zero. Roll the foil into a ball 2 cm in diameter, wave in front of the sensor and RT2 set 0 on the VDI display

Thanks ArchiboldSTM the more i understand the more likely i am to attempt this project i will probably be buying the IDXPRO Pcb in the near future there are apparently a few slightly different pcb's available for this project do you sugest the silverdog diy detector one as this would be easier as i cant convert .lay files to gerber for making i only have a viewer. will any of these pcb's work with the lcd and also the 2 tone board.?

I did not offer anything))) And any Whites IDX board will work with the VDI unit and 2 tones.

Actually you did help with your answer off course you get 0 reading from lcd screen and i didn't know about crunching al foil into a 2cm ball either do you know of any reasonably priced pcb manufacturers that can build pcb from sprint .lay files i live in Australia but can order from overseas yet another question to help my with my learning and again thanks Graham

I didn’t deal with motherboard manufacturers - I do everything myself. Maybe someone else can tell you.

              Graham,
If you are only in need of a single board, you are better off ordering one from Silverdog.

Only looking for a single board for IDXPRO a single Board for LCD and a single board for the 2 tone board. but then silver dog doesn't advertise a 2 tone board or the a lcd board to go with the IDXPRO if i laser print and make PCB'S by cold method of making pcb with alcohol and acitone might be ok. I would recommend doing the TGSL project rather than the IDX Pro, there is much more definitive information for the build of the TGSL which might be helpful if you are just getting started.

Thanks for the tip now i am considering the TGSL although it doesn't have a vdi screen it does have 2 tone and your right a lot more definitive info .
I have completed the Mini Pulse plus and the Baracuda but wanted to have a detector with discrimination and the TGSL seems to be pretty good. Thanks.

My working detector is the TGSL with Roderico's VDI graphic display.
Does very well and two tone is not needed using the X-Y display since it shows ferrous versus non-ferrous at a glance.
