Is this Bounty hunter Tracker iV worth buying

Found a used metal detector on the local gumtree website which is sort of like ebay.

It says Bounty hunter tracker 4 metal detector. Works but seems to have an issue. It makes noise all the time and goes quiet when it detects so opposite to the way it should be.

Is this likely to be a minor fault like a bad connection battery problem etc or is it likely to be something more serious ,price is $50 Australian cheap enough but i don't want to waste my money if you think it may have big issues however if it is something simple may be a good buy just for its discrimination more than anything as i have already built a Baracuda and a Mini Pulse Plus i have also found another at a different location $60 missing battery cover but much further to travel to purchase and petrol is expensive here at the moment. any thoughts. A good working Tracker IV can be bought for $50 (USD). I would offer $5-10 for it, either someone has monkeyed with it and got coils wires swapped or it has a major problem.

You should save your money and buy another PCB from Silverdog

two 9V batts of power supply is not good because low reserve. you have to be ready to mod BH and repair.

Looking around at the Bounty hunter tracker iv found Bounty Hunter Tracker Pro which i presume is going to be a replacement for the tracker iv.

Do you think the Bounty hunter tracker pro is going to be a replacement or another model may be worth looking out for when it arrives here in Australia: or maybe best just sticking to building kits might be better it's just an easy way to get lcd screen and discrimination if its any good that is looking for some reviews there,s a few video clips online though: Graham
