I did not use this model but i can speak about my knowledge in water detecting.
-for dry sand use deus, fast and deep.
-for water detecting you need sandscoop. If the bottom is with stones you have many chances to find targets easy but willbe little hard to retrieve them. If is sand on the bottom, search for hard bottom, hard sand, if your feet?s sunken in the sand you have small chance to find targets. If water is cold, you need to find neoprene suit- dry or wetsuit depending on season. You will not find small ferous targets in salt water(they dissolve). I usualy hunt max neck deep water, if no waves.
in drysand if use deus in populated beaches you can find money, medalions , few gold rings (forgotten on the side of the sheets)
in water you can find alot of rings (water is cold- fingers become smaller- rings fall down when swimming).
Use sunscreen, hat.
On another hand just recently one friend of mine found more nonferrous targets with garrett ace (dd coil) than me with deus (11?coil)- maybe because ace coil has smaller diameter than 11? coil of deus. On infested roman field.
Can you give an input on ?Iron masking? thead? You have the knowledge. Thanks

Particularly when the target is extra tiny and of precious metal, surrounded or partially covered with iron trash.
Not saying that XP Deus is bad at that situation. Already collected many good finds heavily masked by the iron.
But the "drive" in our hobby pushes us always to look up for some more progress.
AT Gold is having interesting features, which i, must admit; don't understand well yet. I must pay effort and master out those.
What's better way than to walk it outdoor and visit the same sites, previously "trashed out" with XP Deus.

Back at White's (8-9 yrs ago now) I tested a bunch of detectors for recovery speed, placing a coin between 2 nails and sweeping at a consistent 1 m/s. The detector with the fastest recovery turned out to be the AT Gold, beating even the Deus although I was using a Deus with Rev 1 software. Second best was a Tesoro Tejon.

I started my career as a detectorist with an Arado detector. But the real thing started later with the Cscope 1220B model.
When someone starts getting good results with such a detector; it can be said that he was "infected" for life with this way of detector operation.
What I have always missed with the Cscope 1220B model is the slightly better behavior on the ground, in All metal mode.
Too frequent need for the detector to adapt to sudden changes in soil has become laborious to handle.
Watching this video, where the presenter showed and explained all the problems of instability of conditions in the soil very well;
I think that now, after so many years, I have finally found a detector that will work in All metal mode as I expected.
This is a very good video and covers a lot of the issues that are very important for the stories being told on the forum.
Without superfluous words and shown and told in the right way.
