  • DIY metal detector in progress

    I've been working on designing and building a DIY metal detector. It's a combination of the vistac2000 pc-based detector, the TGSL (mostly for coil design), and the Neco Desarrollo Smart Hunter, as well as a few improvements of my own. I'll post the full schematics and design when it's done. For the first prototype, my goal was to use only parts I had on hand or could get for free... I've pretty much managed this so far, only needing to buy a $3 dowel after failing to make my own for the coil jig. Since I'm a hobby woodworker I wanted to make a wooden body, here are the parts ready for glue-up:

          research coil is very professional.

            I like that sliding dovetail on the coil.

            Big problem with this approach: I would not want to use it for fear of scratches & scuffs. I'd just hang it on the wall.
