Amazon has many O-scopes for less than $100. Does anyone have any recommendations for an accurate scope that costs less than $100?
I know, I know, "

Hi Rollin_sb
I had this discussion with myself a couple of years ago.
My advice is to buy a good second hand unit. There are usually plenty on internet market sites. You will also retain some resale value.
An older duel trace analogue unit will generally be your cheapest option, but they are a bit bulky. These are still preferred by many engineers.
If you want something smaller and can stretch your budget, then go digital. It will be money well spent.
I've bought 2 of the cheap kit-type oscopes for the sole purpose of monitoring signals when field-testing metal detectors. I found them to be almost unusable and would consider them as last-resort only. If I needed something for the bench and was limited to $100 I would look at a PC-based oscope like Picoscope (might get a used one For $100) or a similar unit from Hantek or Owan. Or just get a used analog oscope.
