Firstly, can I say that I am a little heart broken to read the news of Eric's passing, all be it, older news now. He was a ex-work colleague who was a very generous man in values and with his time. I learned a lot from him in the past about all aspects of his metal detecting ventures and his other love of Hi-Fi. I have been looking to track Eric down on several forums I found in the past. But, as I am not into all the detecting forums, I didn't realise he was active on here.
I think I should put some perspective into this post. I used to work with Eric in Abingdon in the 90's for over 8 years, but lost touch when Pulse Technology Ltd was sold and moved to South Wales. I think he moved to Cornwall about then.
Eric, as I have found out, was a bit of a legend on the detecting forums.
This is my first post to this forum which I found linked on a YouTube video about the good old 'Mini Pulse' PI detector.
I have been interested in metal detecting for a very long time. I do not have much time to go out and have never seriously gone detecting, just playing around really. The irony of this is that I used to make them for a living. I was an electronics engineer at Pulse Technology in Abingdon in the 90's, making and servicing all the detectors, Goldscan's, SuperScan and such like. I have a more electronics technical background and can tell you how they work, how to set them up and repair them but do not really know much about the hobby.
I have an old P.I. machine that I built myself a long time back. I used to read some forums hoping to come across Eric Foster's posts but never had any luck.
I look forward to maybe exchanging some emails in the future. Very, very sad about Eric though.
