When an inscription on a chip is difficult to read : you spread thin layer smear Thermally conductive silicone paste ( white ) . Rub the paste with your finger - a very thin layer remains . So the inscription is much easier to read . On a prototype board mount green, yellow, red and violet LED ( very bright ) . Usually on the light of a yellow (or green )LED the inscriptions are easy to read . My magnifying glass is from an old one slide projector- about 3.5 cm diameter. With it, you can easily see 3 microns wide gap ( crevice ) of a tape recorder head (with good lighting and an appropriate angle ) .

I keep this for few months hanging at my workbench infront of my eyes, not having time to examine it.
A friend and his spouse founded it in a park and gave it to me.
We all thought it is some "anti flea" repellent device for dog or cat.
All the time the "antenna" was most itriguing for me.
I was wandering how can i reuse the antenna and make something of it.
But same as KT315; i was thinking on very high frequencies.
In meantime i tried to "measure" it with HAM radio, later with SDR dongle (SDR Sharp spectrum analyzer) and than with simple f. meter.
None of those catched anything from it.

I am not familiar with late models, later after 2001. (last time i did anything with PIC's)

Yes, the PIC is reprogrammable. Ones with xxFxxxx part number are Flash memory devices. Those with xxCxxxx are older one-time devices.

So unless someone has gone to the trouble of burning out a bond wire, it should be OK.

Yes, as Skippy said the F (Flash) parts are re-programmable.
They do not have a burn out bond. Just Read protections configuration bits.
If not read protected then you can read out the code int it. Otherwise you just erase everything and re-program.

I use a 12F1501 for audio tones in my HH2 detector (see https://www.geotech1.com/forums/show...ake-on-the-HH2).
Needed the PICKit3 programmer for this chip. Older programmers do not support the 12F1501.
