It's very simple: you have to read the instructions.

20 turns of wire with a diameter of 0.5-0.6 mm on a ring with a diameter of 20 cm. And everything will work.

YUP Read it all many times, my question was more about, the expected test result decides as per your quote
"When the light on the LEDs runs from the first to the sixth, the controller tests the power stabilization and current of the coil, when the light moves back, it is calibrated to the amplifier modes.
Accordingly, if an error occurred during the first scan (voltage converter, coil, battery, wires), the first LED flashes, if the amplifier malfunctions (or a fake operating device), then the second LED will flash."

Powered from bench supply @ 12volts
first scan (voltage converter, coil, battery, wires), the first LED flashes = this cannot be voltage converter not fitted.. cannot be battery not fitted so must be wires or coil.

I already knew fist coil was low on inductance, I wound a new coil still low but its functions. I know the inductance from one of the three meters I own,
My question was more a general one can the detector tell you more about the fault on the coil, than just one led ? when the inductance is too low. where might the circuit be failing? this question is not just for the pitone but all PI detectors ?

My code only makes led's flash one at a time ? did you see all six led's light up with my code ?

            There's a mistake.
I have written many times both on my website and on the metal detector forums that you should power from a battery.
The power supply from the laboratory power source, due to the capacitive coupling with the mains supply, causes a lot of interference.

seems to work on the bench just fine, it may not give the range, I dont know what is good from this, but it detects metal and shows one led fron a distance and as you move it closer it goes up to six leds
better than that mine now outputs serial data showing 1 to 6 on the screen matching the led output.
But are you saying it's a mistake because it will work better on a battery ?

well it is not the same chip or pinout that Eddy built it with I suspect when you change the design it may not work as well as the original ?

This match's leds on my pcb, powered from a decent 12v power supply.

yes, I never built Eddy's detector, mine was always going to be different I have yet to test the MIC2250, but if that does not work, I will have to change.
I drew my own pcb from the start, but in doing so it's all my fault if it does not work correctly
Like so many I enjoy the design part of Electonics. sometimes you have to change your desgn because you failed to understand the way others have shown a working design

I am 100% sure Eddy's desgn is good... mine not yet LOL

hi david and eddy sorry i mean this image about MC34063 I MAKE THIS board https://www7.0zz0.com/2023/02/03/20/787175161.jpg
                              bat i try oreginal MC34063 AND im using many cercuit tl082 tl072 jrc082 jrc4558 lf412 lm358 MC602 i change irf740 to irf840. i put coil 20cm
0.35MH = 350uh bat the same problem one led blinking and sound. is there enney answer for that
