  • home made Metal detector

    Hi all,
I am thinking of making a metal detector and was wondering what the best type was.

I have read about pulse induction and bfo. Is there a better type than pulse induction and where can i get instructions and possibly a pcb?

Thanks for taking the time to help out a beginner in this facinating hobby.

    Greg.

This web site has quite a few project articles, just click on the "Home Page" link & look around.

BFO & PI are the easiest for a first-time builder, but BFO has relatively poor performance. Neither can discriminate. Several PI projects have PCBs available, including the Goldpic, Gary's twinloop, and the Hammerhead, so I would recommend one of those.

in this forum you can find Delta Pulse PI metal detector schematics, PCB and some adjusting info, it is really powerfull detector for deep seeking, but it is more complex than BFO
