Just to inform all that the mortal remains of our friend and mentor, Andy Flind, were laid to rest yesterday at 14:30.
The funeral was an emotional one for all, Andy being such a vibrant person in life, but in the great tradition of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) many a pint was raised in Andy's honour at the pub afterwards.
Personally, I followed Andy's love of wild outdoor places, got a take-out, went to a remote beach and proceeded to give him a good sent off.
Many times throughout the proceedings, I heard people say the same thing, and that was they expected Andy to turn up and say his usual greeting line, in his unique voice, "Hello, fancy seeing you here. What's going on then"?
I'm sure Andy was there in spirit, and would have enjoyed the real ale that was got in specially for the occasion.
His wife Christine is a very brave woman who took the whole day with great dignity. I'm sure that we all send our support to his family at this time.
Please join me in raising a glass to Andy and wishing him a peacful rest.
We shall not see the likes of him again (sadly). A TRUE friend, he will be greatly missed.
If you wish to make a contribution to the hospice who so expertly looked after Andy in his last days, then click the link below and send whatever you can. Donations should be made under you own name to the Andy Flind memorial fund.
