  • Question about GB settings.

Summary: I have a Tesoro Tejon, and am having a hard time to ground balance the machine. I also have an Eldorado, and have no problems GB'ing this one. The Tejon CANNOT GB (ground Balance) to a piece of ferrit. I can do it to the Eldorado and the ferit. I am constantly getting a NEG response with the Tejon. I have written to Tesoro thru their web site about my problem and am waiting for a response from them. I have also received lots of help from others on forums. And just when I think I did it, It turns out that I am wrong.
Question: Is this normal for the Tejon?

    Thanks for any help.

    Tejon

    GBing the Tejon:

    Step 1:
Have GB knob in the center position, Turn knob till it barely starts to DRAG then back off 2 full turns. All other knobs set too All Metal or Zero.

    Step 2:
Turn Machine on and sensitivity to 7

    Step 3:
Turn Threshold to the lowest audible tone that is solid

    Step 4:<BOOK>
Now locate a piece of ground that does not make a sound,No sign of a target in the ground. Once this has been done now lower the coil from 8-6" above the ground to w/ in 1" of the Ground, if the tone gets louder turn the GB knob Counter Clock wise <NEGITIVE>, if the tone gets softer turn the GB knob clock wise <POSITIVE>

    STEP 4a:<Tech Method>
According to one of the Techs @ Tesoro if you will turn the knob clock wise till you start to feel it Drag and start from there, No Tone as you lower the coil only as you raise it know turn knob 1 full turn to the left, if still no tone as you lower the coil again go 1 more turn to the Left, lower coil again still no tone as you lower it and you get a tone on the Rise go 1/2 turn to the left, try it again lowering the coil if still no tone going down to the bottom now go 1/4 turn to the left.

after the 1st 2 turns to the left you reduce by 1/2 turn, 1/4 turn, 1/8 turn till you have a audible tone as you lower and raise the coil. GBing the Tejon is very tricky, also must be in VCO.
