Hi to all,
Is it possible, to make two metal detectors, with completely the same characteristics? In Pi technology – maybe (but I doubt), but in Vlf, it is absolutely impossible.
Why?
Even if we ignore different characteristics of OP amplifiers, capacitors, resistors and etc, what about COILS?
Is it possible to make two completely the same coils? Newer! Even manufacturer coils, are never completely the same, especially Vlf (or balanced coils, if you like).
It is impossible to put all turns of wire, always in same position, or find absolutely the same diameter of wire. And, if you work with polyester, which change dimension, you will get even worse results.
Peoples are often baying bigger coil after, and bee disappointed because they work worse then smaller.
Cure for this big problem is, of course, ADJUSTMENT.
But, most detectors haven’t enough adjustments to prevent all coil differences.
And if we consider this, what can expect some novice, when start some complicated metal detector project?
Or, what can expect some advanced hobby maker, when try to make some microcontroller Pi project, because he haven’t possibility to change some timings, to adjust his coils?
I was newer see similar story like this, on forums, and fill that it is useful, especially for novices, to speak about it. Reason for this is because most of novices, selected project which is far from they ability, and usually fail.
Am I right? Or maybe somebody have different experience? Any comment?
