I was thinking about using 32khz osc.Have it operate on 2khz,8khz,16khz it would switch between all three. I would like to hear your input on this type of detector.

Re: Tri mode detector
Getting the phase dynamics of the front end might be a bit of a problem, and you would probably have to re ground balance every time you switched frequencies.
If you plan to "multiplex" the 3 frequencies, i.e. swtich them in one after the other to make some sort of crude m.f. machine, then it would be possible, but you may have to swith in compensating circuits for the phase correction at each frequency, and blank the audio as you switch to avoid the machine "pulsing" as it sees the input levels change.
Other than the above, it sounds like a great idea.

Re: Tri mode detector
ciklon #1 schematic and now yet Schedrin 'KOSCHEJ' controller's schematic HAVE HAD multyfreqs. your idea is NOT new!
BY THE WAY, ALL PI (impulse) detectors are working on SPECTRUM of freqs (!!!) - you must learning this fact in theory!
