Detector is Troy X3 with 9" coil.

I got pretty much the same results with the 7" coil.

          X3

          Troy X3 Carl.
I use the 9 inch coil.
However I have the same results with the stock X3 7" coil which is pretty amazing.
You have to get in a little chatter to get 15 sometimes (in the house) but 14 is easy.
          I'm going to re-do this with the 3 coils I have (9, 7 and DD 10 x 5) and with a uMax for reference.

Do my eyes deceive me or are you 5 years late with your reply?

Anyway, I agree the Shadow X3/5 was a good design. I think there is an X5 laying around here somewhere, I should pull it out and give it a run.

Unfortunately, that 15" turns into about 6" in many cases in actual use.. It seems as though these higher frequency machines are really hot on small, low conductors but don't penetrate so deeply in the ground. At least that is my observation withe the X5.
