  • Hi Gary
Yesterday ,I searched for components.I visited 3 electronic store .but I could not find transistors.they all say these are not common ones.one of them say thay had sold 3906 but now not available.
can you give some options for these transistors(2n4870,2n3904,2n3906)
    thanks

I don't know what suppliers your using, but I find that really strange.

Detectoman, Those NTE Transistors are Very Expensive, Compared to the Origionals. Sometimes they also don't work as good.

Also you put a Wrong Number. (Not 2N3905, its a 2N3906.)

Anyway, I offered to send Okantex a complete set of those transistors for Free, even free shipping. I'm waiting for his reply.

          Take care.........Gary

for your two box design I could not find transistors.
            2N 4870
            2N 3906
            2N 3904 and 1N4005
can you give me some other transistor values that can be used.
            can I use 2n2646 instead of 2N4870
            and BC 557 for 2N3906
            and 1N4148 for 1N4005
            or what else is suitable.
            have a nice holiday

Hi Okantex. I have read your private message.
For 2N3604 you can use BC547
For 2N4870 you can use 2N2646.
For 2N3906 (very comon transistor) you can try a npn BC.. or BD...
Make the detector with bc547 or 2n2222a (for 2N3906) and then you may experience with other transistors for better results (old germanium transistors offers more power .
            Good luck

hello all! i have a question. mc14520 is the same as CD4520 (16 pin!)
I change TR's PCB but i still dont know... mc14520 is 14 pins? thanx.

Wrong numbers on IC's. MC14520 is a 16 pin IC (dual binary counter). Change IC.

                • strange IC's and problem with X1 / t-r locator

Hello GEO. Which I can use there in my TR-Locator? - MC14520 or CD4520?What You think Geo ? That IC in circuit work with 32 kHz X-tal.... About X-tal - I have only one from simply clock, and one with frequency 32.6 khz. Is that ok? That frequency is not too high?Greetz to You!

I have not constructed the t/r locator but sevzirfo writes 14520 not 4520 (for me are the same ic's). The 32.6 khz xtal is ok. The 32.6 khz is low frequency for 2 box detector.

Hi Geo! OK! For me too it is the same IC's . Ok, xtal stAY! I know but personally I prefer lower freq. - something like 2 kHz. I tell You why:

                      I test it....

                      0 - 40 khz - 0.35 dB / 1m
                      40 kHz to up - 35 dB/ 1m!!!!!! EEK!

Remember - never bulid somethig over 40 kHz.... 35dB/1m is too much...

maybe some photos? I see some TR on sevzirfo www. if someone bulid TRol Locator .... please.... show us Your photos !

                        • there are same people who repeated the TR locator. but they did not undestand that a schematic simplicity lies in mechanical balancing. this schematic is working and that's enough.

hello geo and kt315 a question for yours, say me if the detector serzirfo is powerful and that depth reaches say me so that it has several frequencies in his trasmisor, because have frecuencies ,and digame if yours construct it and as they are his faults thanks

4520 vs mc14520 - is the same but:

                                Total power dissipation
                                4520:
                                200mW

                                mc14520:
                                500mW

                                ...and temperatures +/- 10'C - 20'C

                                Greetz too all!
