  • Strong candidate

I remember that this can work very well for two boxes, because when receiver is some far, transmitter affect the receiver yet. This md detect easyly roll of copper wire.

PCB is OK, some pin in schem is wrong. Use parallel screened cable as in the Magnum, no cilindrical cable. ALSO STRONG candidate for two boxes.

TOO SMALL, I Can't read the Writing you put on that schematic.

Also Not sure Why you added the other section of the 4069.
Does it need to be there to Invert the signal?

** PLEASE Let me Know, before I go any further.

As an Additional NOTE to all:
The other PCB that was Previously designed by someone else, has All the "IC's Backwards".
      It Could Never Work.

      Take care.....Gary

      • sorry, I attached full sized image, but it was reduced. PNG is limited on 19,5 kB on the forum

one invertor is free and I think it will be used for current loading reduce of divider output, not for to invert the signal. it's more logically in similar schematic to use buffers, ordinary thing. althought in original view the device is working well.

in our world guys frequently use 'laser&flat-iron tehnology' as very simple but effective way to make PCB at home. we must specify what we want to get on laser printer - mirrored copy or 'normal' for it. mirrored copy (paper) will lie down on a plate and we will get the normal view of layout after this thermo pressing by flat-iron. sorry for my english, I think all are OK there.

Yes I understand that, But its also Missing Many Traces.

OK, I added in that extra stage, But I sill have doubts on it. But its easy to Remove parts to try it Both Ways.

I Also Updated my Schematic with a few other changes.

I Really dont understand, Why Such a Size Limitation on a PNG File on this site.

What can i said Gary? Many thanks for your contribution to make this hobby bigger.
I think that many folks are watching your work on of course will be wait for results.
My TR Locator is on a box and by now i just reading the posts and learning from the posts experiencies.
Take care Gary and best wishes on this modified project.

KT315, here i m sending a file of Gary PCB of TR Locator, made on Sprint Layout software. If you want to make a photo of it to post here, go ahead
Later if necesary i ll make any corrections that you inform.
              Regards

Curious, Why do we need a Layout on Sprint software?

I will Post the Final PCB and Layout.

Anyway, Here is a Picture of the Assembled PCB I made.

Need to make some coils now, but first need to find the data for them, Than test the board.

Anyone Interested in a Free PCB for this?

Once I am sure the board is Correct, I'll create another Post to get Names of persons interested.
Than I'll put those names in a Hat and give one away to the person whose name I draw.

                Take care...Gary

                • the PCB is absolutely toppingly, Gary! but one thing we did lose, IMO. we must think about a stability. on PCB must be set up smoothing capacitors, 0,1-0,15-0,22 uF. I think one on 4069 and 14520 power supply pins, between +6 and -6 or two between (+6 -- GND) (-6 -- GND). also these capacitors on the opamp supply pins. maybe also to add smoothing chokies in TX driver supply -? I yet do not aware that it is strongly actually for this device or not...
                  regards.

Hi Gary and congratulations on that nice PCB and circuit.
Well i post that sprint layout file, because may be someone with this software can find easy to made the pcb from this software. Has i said i m not very skilled with electronics, and for me is easy to print directily from the software that i have to the laser printer. Then i just have to ironing the circuit on the pcb and finally place the board on the copper remover.
But anyway if your final work shows me that is easier to transfer the image for ironing on pcb thats ok.
Many thanks Gary for nice job, and of course i m Interested in a Free PCB.
                    Regards

Here is a picture of the Circuit in Operation.

Notice my Two BIG Black Coils on the Right hand side.
(each are 1/2 inch diameter and 3/4 inch long)
Easily Detects a piece of metal at 8 Inches on the meter.
These Coils are 15 Mhy, Which is what the Full Size coils should be.

No Audio Yet, Small Probem there.
But Transmitter and Reciever circuits are all OK, right through to the meter.

KT315: There appears to be No Filtering Problem.
Nelson: I can make boards for anyone, If Needed.

Anyway, More to Come, Probably Tomorrow or Sunday.
Got other stuff to do today

Thats why I am a Professional Analogue Designer, but Retired! Just a hobby now.

There is No Problem with the LM324, it is all functioning correctly according to my Scope measurements.
But Possibly I have a trace Wrong, somewhere in there.
I Will check that out tomorrow.
                            (Going Bug Eyed Today.)

Complementry Transistors are also simple stuff.
I used TIP31C and TIP32C Transistors for the Coil Drive.
                            They are also working correctly.

Those "BC" Numbers, such as 557, 558 and so on Transistors are Not very common in North America.
But these transistors aren't critical in this circuit.

I could even do this up in surface mount, (Really Tiny) but my eyes aren't that good anymore, for that type of assembly.

Hope you all like my Recieve and Transmit Coils!

I am not prepared to make the proper coils as I have no use for this detector, so actual test results will be up to those persons that build it.
My proto just gets Scrapped later.

But I Should have a Completed PCB and Schematic Soon, And I will Post it all.
