  • Book Suggestions?

I am new to this, but have some background in eletrical engineering. I was hoping some of you could suggest some good general books about detection technology and equiptment/science (more technical side, less hobby-level stuff) to help educate me in this field. I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

There is almost nothing in the way of a book. The last semi-technical book on detectors in the US was probably Rocky LeGaye's Metal Detector Handbook, 1969. There is one from Germany, but it is in German only.

The very reason I started this web site was the lack of technical info on detectors. I've posted a lot of magazine project articles that give some pretty good technical descriptions, so you should read through those. Then, jump on the forums for more info.

Amazon.com has a few copies of this book (used) from $4.50 to $6.50. Search for "building metal detectors".

Carl, what your opinion on 'Metal Detectors' of Charles Garrett?

I have his "Modern Metal Detectors," which is a decent book. It covers a little bit of the technology, but very watered down for general audiences.
