  • Toltec 100, problem using the hip mount

Anyone ever seen a Toltec 100 become unstable when it is hipmounted? It works fine pole mounted, and I even purchased a new extension cable for the hipmount. It becomes unstable and freaks out when used as a hip mount. Sent it back for cal, was the same when it returned. When pole mounted, this thing works great but I'm getting a Popeye arm from swinging it!

    Thanks,

It must be your electric personality. Seriously I had a Timex electric watch many moons ago that wouldn't run when in contact with my skin, had cover the back with electrical tape.

When the unit is on your hip it's either picking up your body electrics or static electricity from your clothing. If the unit has a metal case you could try attaching a grounding plate to the heel of the shoe closest to the unit and then run a wire to it. Or you could attach the wire to a short length of light chain and dearg it behind you. If the case is plastic mount it on a metal plate a little bigger than the unit and ground it as before.

Another thing, you said you bought an extention cable, did you send that along with the unit with instructions to use it when the calibration was done. I would shorten that cable to just as long as it has to be and no more, or send it back with the cable for recal.

I did send the cable when I sent it for calibration. Unfortunately, they returned my Toltec with a work order that made reference to not using the cable during calibration!I guess that I should just send it back again, I'm sure that they wouldn't mind. Tesoro has a GREAT reputation for customer service.
