  • Metal Detector using PIC

    Hi,

    I'm a noob in electronics and that's why I was thinking about using PIC for building a metal detector. I could cut down the electronic part to the signal generator and signal receiver. The analysis, ground-balance, discrimination will be handled by the PIC.

    Do you think this is possible? I already have experience in C/C++ and a bit of Assembler.

    Yup, it can be done, and a rather nice example can be seen here:

    In Russian, please use Babelfish if necessary. Oh, sure, it uses Atmel, not PIC, but that's not very principial. (Atmels are more elegant than PICs anyway )

    If you are a newbie with soldering iron, then maybe Koschey-FM might be a simpler starting point:

    Was also published in English in Circuit Cellar magazine. Atmel too, but, hey, you can hack a clone on PIC for exercize.
