dear gentlemen, i need help finding a metal detector that doesn't lead me to hotrocks. my target is in a half mile radius and every detector i have tried keeps me digging hotrocks. I have tried the Pro series 11 target max (hot rock and mineral disaster) a whites 10 coil and a german made dragac with a scanner, laptop, visual software worth over 40,000 and the outcome was the same as the Whites. Any advice would be appreciated.

What White's did you use? What other traditional metal detectors?

Also, what is your target... type, size, depth, container, etc?

      Whites

      thanks for you reply Carl,
I used a Kellyco Pro Series 11 target max, Whites 5900 and a german made locator called the Drakac it had a scanner, laptop with visual software.
The terrain is very rocky and rugged. I am looking for a chamber entrance. According to the symbols it should be near a cave. I am estimating its between 7 to 10 meters deep and treasure should be in the chamber. Dont know the size of the chamber. For months i have been digging. I am in the area within a half mile and its full and its full of hotrocks and minerals.
I am also looking for a chest full of gold coins in a mountain area in a two mile range and i only hit hotrocks. Can you suggest how i can find my target without hitting hotrocks. Is there any equipment you know of that can help me.

Personally I like to the sounds of Erics Goldscan 5. Also there's the Minelab GP3500, which is what everyone talks about being the best. In your case, you might be in terrible ground. Perhaps too bad for even GP3500. What I like about Goldscan 5 is the adjustments. So in really heavy grounds you can adjust the decay. Here's the Goldscan 5 page:
        http://www.surfscanner.com/Surfscan3/Goldscan1.html

Also here's someone that's selling a used one:

        http://www.findmall.com/read.php?34,...531#msg-322531

        It says,
        Goldscan 5

          goldscan 5

          Thanks for your reply...
about the goldscan 5, it was sold but i will look for another one. I am interested in the minelab gp 3500, sounds good. Thanks for the suggestion, what do you think about the Hays Electronics DS-7 super? Does anyone have experience with this one.

          Appreciate it,
