  • Who Tesoro

    Hi.
I have a long time who i want to build an other project. I wanted to build the Bandido II umax but here in my town i can't find all the IC's so i let this opinion.
 But i need to build a project for a metal detector. I looked at the schematic of Golden Sabre and i show that i can find the IC's and it look's to be a better detector than Bandido. May someone to tell me his opinion about Golden Sabre? I must start to build a detector now. It is my narcotic.

    Tesoro ???

    Hi Geo,
i tried many times to build some of tesoro's, but never did. All schematics available are intentionally posted with some mistakes i guess.
Or i am just incopetent to build any tesoro!?
Later i'll post my sad experiences with it...

      tesoro...

I finished Tesoro Diablo Gold Demon today. It failed to work.Checked again and again all.
Nothing! I made no mistake in pcb, components and etc. I put sockets on ic's. Overall
power consumption is 70-80mA.When removing LM392, it lower to 15mA.LM 392 is o.k.
I have a few of them, switched them around and always the same story!? 2907 output refuse
to oscillate. I put 330nF parallel to TX coil. When remove that condenser, 2907 start to
oscillate at 80kHz with drifts, but when adjusting with trimm. 2.5 K i can lower it even
to 8-9kHz also with drifts from time to time.
I checked various condensers with it and always the same story,it stop at once to oscillate
      with some condenser on it.
When switched ON,i can hear pleasant tone for a while(5-6 seconds) than stop, and
no more tone. Adjustments with pots. and trimms. has no affect on it, only another
trimm. 2.5K increases tone pitch at start. 7660 is working nice, 7555 also,4024 also...
Checked many ways and i am 100% sure that those i.c.'s are good and working.
Positive rail is 4.9V, negative sometimes 4.7, sometimes down to 3.96V, depends on
diff. i.C.'s in sockets. Instead of lS204(can't obtain it) i checked a various op-amps like
TL062,TLC272,LM358,LM393 etc. 27M2 also unknown so i put TLC272 instead of it, but also
checked other op-amps on it's place. Nothing! No damages so far, everything is calm,
nothing burns so far.....!?? I put 7805 (2A) and sometimes it is warm, but not critical.
I am 100% sure that used good i.c.'s. Also tried several coils with it.NOthing!
The very same thing was with Bandido II few months ago!?
Either some jokers posted faked schematics(very often case on the .net), either i am not
competent to build this type of detector?
I made over 200-300 detectors so far,PI's,IB's,BFO's. "Working rate" of my detectors is
over 80% so far. But these Tesoro's are real calamity for me!
Therefore i decided to send to hell all Tesoro project i have, and never to try again to
      make some of them.
I am looking for some schematic of IB, but "coinshooter", so i can detect coin on 30-35cm
depth, also wih disc. Fisher 1265 is looking nice but do not have pcb for it.Too lazy to
draw pcb of my own. There are several schematics here on this forum and on the .net, but
all sucks! Either it is old, obsolete project like "coinshooter" and "beachcomber vlf-90"
either is some to complicated with mP's and some "%#%$!@kposip;ajljd" I.C. , so i can not
find it ever in any shop or at any provider...Or it is FAKED schematic and posted just to
make joke, like that "Relic Hawk" schematic here on this forum...
Is there any exit from this situation!? Yes it is! To send to hell everything and buy
a brand new one! But i am constructor for over the 15 years, and it is my "narcotic" as Geo says.
So i am gonna keep looking further.....
If any hints, tips, ideas, schematics.....come on here!
      ................................................

Geo, do you have any good schematic and pcb for some IB coinshooter? Already made and tested.
If yes, than let's talk about it.I am very ready to exchange.
      regards

Hi Ivconic. Can you send me the schematic of Diablo Gold Demon to look an eye. Now i have not free time but i want to start slowly slowly. If the file is large you can email it to me.
btw.. did you received thr DP manual? I sent it to you twice.

I think you should stick to the Tesoro for a homebuild project. They are one of the best detectors around and about the easiest to make. If you do not post the circuit you are working on it is difficult to help much. I notice that many on this forum have built the bandido, and this is one of the best Tesoro circuits. They are all very similar. Or try to get original Silver Sabre circuit, this was also easy to get going. Tesoro usually draw low current not 80 ma so this could be a clue. I never saw a LM392 in a Tesoro circuit but I have not seen them all.

Don't get too hung up on finding the exact part numbers. Just find something close, and it should work. The Bandido circuit is low speed, and will probably work with just about any opamps.

                  Hi Ivconic:

Quink has the more complete and comprehensive job (brilliant!!!) about the Tesoro Bandido II. Of course, in the forum you can find about it in the Tesoro Bandido's thread.

First, you need winrar program, downloadble from

                  http://www.winrar.de/eindex.html

                  Quink's files are in:

                  http://rapidshare.de/files/12927171/...n2006.rar.html

After click the link, scroll down and click "free". On the next site wait few seconds and download the archives.

For extracting the .rar archive use: password:
                  quink

Bandido uses LM393N, no the 392.

                  Regards

                      Hi All.
Ivconic: Thanks for the schematic. Golden Sabre is more complex but i believe it is better and more sensitive. I will try it. I told you before time that i am good constructer he.. he. Do you have the pcb schematic of Diablo or you constructed it on a general purpose pcb?

Carl: I can not find TLC2262 and MC33178. What common IC may i put for them. I stay at a small town with 40000 population and i can not find all the components. Golden Sabre has not TLC2262 and MC33178 so i have not problem with ic's. If you have any idea about replacing them i wait for your news.,

Esteban: You sent me the schematic of Golden Sabre. Do you have pcb file for it?

                        .....

Esteban if you look more carefully schematic i posted, you'll notice that it has
nothing to do with Bandido, it is some Diablo Gold Demon! And LM392 is stated there
                        not LM393.
"Quink has the more complete and comprehensive job (brilliant!!!) about the Tesoro
Bandido II. Of course, in the forum you can find about it in the Tesoro Bandido's
                        thread."
                        I agree.
At the time i was checking on Bandido subject, Quink was not posted anything yet.
So i made my futile device on 2 pcb's, according to some other post, somewhere, right now
i can not remember, where from....It was ineffectual,i can only imagine reasons why!?
Later, month or two,i read somewhere, that it was intentionally laden with faked values of
components, although pcb's were o.k..The same was with schematic too,at the time....
It was too late for my .pcb's, i already scraped them.
Now,these days, after all those experiences with others, man can ask a simple question:
"Are we all here with the same reason? Can man trust to fairness of every posted schematic
on the .net?" It is not a joke when you inlay some money and hours of labor to build
some device, and after that,at the end you realize that it was fake or a joke!
I met many of people like that.I could post here their names, but i will not.Let them
recognize theirselves. Some of those names are still showing here on this forum!
Anyway, what you give is what you'll get, sooner or later!
                        .................................................. ........

Esteban thank you very much for showing a good will to help.
Quink's effort is worth of paying attention, and try it again to build Bandido.Next
month or two i am gonna find some spare time and do it.I'll post than my opinion...
Although those MC33178 and TLC2262 are not easy to obtain here,so i am wandering of their
replacement, if possible ? Regarding to Carl's post it would be easy to find replacement.

Geo, i did not received your mail yet!? Maybe you confused my mail, it is
                        [email protected]

Thank you for sharing this schematic It has some interesting differences from most of the other Tesoro schematics going around.

Hi Ivconic. Next week i will check the pcb for any mistake. Now i will go to Mykonos for 3days. I sent you the manual file but i don't understand what hapened. The manual is from Bandito Impulse who is The same with Delta Pulse (only the name changes). I attach it here.
